Rosie came out of hiding!
On another note: I have been playing around with PHP and MySQL. I'm really liking them. So far I've made a simple "contact information" page and a web interface file server.

A Taste of Spring
My mom brought in these cuttings from a forsythia. They bloomed because of the warmth indoors.
Spring isn't that far off!

The Jew's Harp
Simple, fun, awesome, annoying, and dangerous, all at the same time. The danger: you could chip your tooth pretty easily if you're not careful.
Don't mess around with the Jew's harp.

Typing
It has come to my attention that I am not good at typing; I'm at about 20 wpm right now. Unacceptable. I'm working on improving that.
For the photo, a paper ninja star.

Choco-Cane
This candy cane has chocolate in it!
Also, I will no longer be including a high-res link for each photo I post; I will reserve that for pictures that deserve it. When a post's photos are linked to a high-res version I will include the "high-res" tag below the post.

Tomahawk Pencil
Yet another use for lashing.
Also, here are the linux and OS X executables for the "Pet" program I wrote (both are in the .zip file). Sorry, but I'm short on time and getting a compiler set up in windows might take a while. You aren't missing much if you can't run it, it's more of a practice program anyway.
You can find the source code for all of my practice projects as I work on them at GitHub.

Project Complete
I finished my coding project! I'll post the executables tomorrow, but for now here is the source code. It's not the greatest, but hey, I'm still learning.

More Than Two Months!
I've been posting for more that two months and over 60 posts!
Unfortunately I didn't have much time to work on my coding project today; I had more homework than I usually do.
So, for today; this is an overly large mug (we keep cooking spoons, tongs, and spatulas in it):
I want to drink cream of mushroom soup out of it.

C++
Today, in my effort to learn how to program, I started a project in C++. I have about 150 lines of code so far, and I think that I'm a little less than halfway done (this is my largest project yet for sure). I will post the source code when I'm done, along with executables (one each for Linux, OS X, and Windows).
You will probably be able to guess what it does (generally) from this screenshot (click on the image to enlarge).

Mini Screwdrivers
This is probably the set of tools that I have used the most (which isn't saying much, I don't use tools that often).
Mini screwdrivers.
You can hardly take anything apart with just a regular-sized screwdriver, and how are you going to be able to open a battery cover with a tiny screw?

Family Blog (In the House)
I ended up using Wordpress instead of bbPress for our family blog-thing. It's local, so it's only accessible if you're on our local network. I decided not to use bbPress for one important reason: you can't really upload photos or videos to it. I'm planning on adding a calendar and address book server to it, along with various other things.

Sad Face
Noooo! It's tomorrow now! That means I skipped yesterday's post (not that it matters that much). I have a good excuse though, I was distracted while making a local bbPress forum where people at my house could post random stuff. It's kind of difficult.
Anyways, this is what you can do with lashing.
And this is evil.

Pitch Pipe
News flash: I have never successfully tuned an instrument with a pitch pipe (though I can't say I ever tried that hard).

Mercury in Motion
I made another video!
This one features something pretty exciting:
Mercury!
I got this drop of mercury several years ago from a mercury switch I found in an old (broken I think) gyroscope.

Flying Fat Man
I'm on disk five of Cowboy Bebop and I'm loving it.
In the last episode I watched there was a bulbous fat man who bounced/flew around like a beach ball/balloon.
Ridiculous, yes. Awesome, yes.

Beaver Kong
Today my little sister asked me for something to draw; I told her that a giant beaver climbing the Empire State Building with a semi-truck would be a good idea. It was.
Also, I recommend that you read Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's fantastic graphic novel, Watchmen.
To give you an idea of how big a deal this novel is, look at this:
It is among the 100 novels that Time Magazine considers to be the best from 1923 through the present.
Plus, I enjoyed reading it. I'll probably let you borrow it if you ask.

Python, Not Just a Snake
I have been trying on and off for a while to learn programming and while doing so I wrote this program in Python. The code is not so great, and I didn't add comments to it like I should have, but the general idea is that it will simplify any numerator and denominator into their simplest whole-number ratio (243.67 over 43.1 turns out to be 24367 over 4310).
It does this using Euclid's algorithm, which is how you can find the greatest common divisor of two numbers using only a pen and paper (I hope I never have to learn how to do it, figuring out how to write it into a program was enough for me).
Also, if you want to try running the program, you'll have to look up how to (unless you already know how). Sorry, it may be confusing. I'll try to write another version of it that will just run without you having to use the command line.
Photo: Raspberry candies.

More Night Lights
I took some more long exposure photographs, only this time I had a little more space to run around.
(I shined a flashlight at the headlights of the car to make it look like it was running).
Tomorrow I'll probably geek out on you and post some python that I wrote.

Rescue Bandage Girl!
So I finally got Super Meat Boy. Good decision. I had played the original Meat Boy flash game (which I recommend) and this was WAY better (not to say that the original wasn't good). I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Now for a photo!
Yep, that's lemon juice.

Cut the Color
It's color! It's black-and-white! It's a stone egg! It's selective desaturization!
There is no way I am going to pay for Photoshop, no matter how hard Gimp is to use.
